International English Language Testing System
What is IELTS?
The International English Learning Testing System (IELTS) is designed in order to assess the language ability of a candidate who aim to study or work in a country where English is the first language. IELTS is considered to be one of the highest international standards of language assessment.
It is accepted for university admissions in countries such as Canada, USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand etc.
What is Tested?
The IELTS test checks the ability or proficiency of a non-native English speaking candidate who aims at applying for student visa, work visa or migration for a country where English is the first language.
The test consists of four different sections: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Usually the listening, reading and writing parts of the test are all conducted on the same day, one by one without any breaks.
The speaking test is usually scheduled on the test day in the afternoon, but it can be rescheduled within 7 days before or after that.
Types of IELTS
IELTS Academic
This type of IELTS exam is taken by the candidates who wish to study in an English-speaking environment or college/university. IELTS academic can also be given for professional registration purposes. This test measures whether a candidate is ready to begin his/her academics in English.
IELTS General Training
This IELTS exam is suitable for candidates who are planning to study or work in a country where English is used as the first language of communication. It is required for migration to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and many other countries worldwide.
The modules of listening and speaking are similar for both the tests, however the matter for the writing and reading modules are different depending on which test a candidate takes.

IELTS Modules
Listening Test (30 minutes)
This type of IELTS exam is taken by the candidates who wish to study in an English-speaking environment or college/university. IELTS academic can also be given for professional registration purposes. This test measures whether a candidate is ready to begin his/her academics in English.

Reading test (60 minutes)
The reading test requires the candidate to answer a series of questions and it is designed to test him/her on a series of reading skills. In this module, the candidate will have to read through for gist, important ideas, logical arguments, and figuring out the writer’s attitude, opinions & intentions while skimming through due to a particular time constraint.

Writing test (60 minutes)
The IELTS writing test requires the candidate to complete 2 tasks about topics of general interest based on the module that he/she is taking

Speaking test (11-14 minutes)
The speaking test of IELTS assesses a candidate’s spoken English skills. The test is conducted in 3 parts and is recorder for evaluation purposes.

The IELTS test fees varies from country to country, but in case of India, the IELTS fees vary between the range of INR 13,000 – INR 15,000. So please recheck with our counselor once to reconfirm the exact amount at the time of booking.
You are advised to read the Information for Candidates booklet very minutely as it helps you understand the test format and gives an understanding about what to expect on the test day. The test rules and guidelines can be found in the ‘Notice to Candidates’ which is provided in the IELTS Application Form as well.
IELTS usually can be attempted by anyone irrespective of their age, gender, race, nationality or religion. But the IELTS test is not recommended for students who are below 16 years of age.
The IELTS test was originally launched as a paper based test, but now in majorly all countries the Computer Delivered IELTS is available for both Academic & General test takers.
